Cooper Basin
1975-2000 2D workstation dataset
2D SEG-Y “Workstation” seismic data for the period 1975-2000 are available for the South Australian sector of the Cooper Basin.
Prior to 2000, one Joint Venture (JV) held title over the Cooper Basin and adjacent parts of the Eromanga Basin. This JV, led by Santos Ltd, has made available their Workstation loaded data for the use of other explorers in the basin.
The seismic data was originally supplied as multiple Geoframe project files but these were converted to a standard SEGY output format suitable for a range of software platforms. Over 15500 data files are available from over 5200 lines contained in multiple data classes and all data has been bulk shifted and tied.

All files have shot-point numbers written at byte position 17 using 32-bit IEEE floating point format.

Duntroon Basin
1983-2004 workstation dataset
A workstation-ready dataset of 632 SEGY data files is available for the Duntroon Basin area, offshore South Australia. The age range for these data is 1983-2004. Please note that SEGY data files for seismic lines recorded during the 1960’s and 1970’s are not held by PIRSA.
Shotpoint ranges have been verified against TIFF images of the processed sections and written to trace headers at byte position 17 in using 32-bit IDM floating point format.
X and Y coordinates have been written at byte position 73 (X) and 77 (Y) using 32-bit IBM integer format and all coordinates are referred to GDA 94 datum and UTM Zone 53. Coordinates were calculated (interpolated and extrapolated) using navigation files supplied by the relevant companies. Extrapolation was applied when existing navigation data did not cover the full length of the available SEGY data file. Such situations usually exist for those traces which lie outside the full fold portion of the data and are not considered reliable in any case.
TFS (time of first sample) values are written at byte position 109 using 16-bit IBM integer format. For this dataset, such values are always zero.
Only one version of each line (filtered migrated), chosen on the basis that it was the longest, best and most recent version available.
