All regulated activities conducted under the Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Act 2000 (PGE Act) must have an approved Statement of Environmental Objectives in place with which they comply, prepared on the basis of an Environmental Impact Report. If an activity is deemed to be of Medium Impact according to the criteria for classifying the level of environmental impact of regulated activities then public comment will be sought on the Environmental Impact Report and it's associated Statement of Environmental Objectives.

Please note all written submissions received in response to this invitation for public comment will be published in full on the Environmental Register of the DEM website, in accordance with the requirements of the PGE Act and PGE Regulations. Individuals should take care not to include personal information in their written submission that they do not wish to be published.

Leigh Creek Energy Geophysical Operations

Leigh Creek Energy has prepared an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and Draft SEO for geophysical operations within Petroleum Exploration Licence 650 near Leigh Creek. Leigh Creek Energy intend to continue exploration activities to identify and delineate potential structures and the depth of the coal seams for the Leigh Creek Energy Project (LCEP).

In preparation of the EIR and draft SEO relating to these activities Leigh Creek Energy commenced an initial stage of targeted stakeholder consultation in November 2018. This notice is provided to initiate a further stage of stakeholder consultation as required under the P&GE Act.

The Minister for Energy and Mining is seeking public comment, under provisions of the P&GE Act, on the following EIR and proposed draft SEO relative to this proposal:
