The REPS consists of two five-year stages: 2021 to 2025 and 2026 to 2030.
The Minister for Energy and Mining sets the annual REPS targets at the beginning of each stage. As the REPS administrator, ESCOSA then allocates the targets to each obliged energy retailer.
Key elements for REPS operation for 2021 to 2025 were published in the 21 December 2020 Government Gazette, from page 6024 onward. These included the targets, obligation thresholds, and how targets were allocated for the period. The targets were then amended in the 21 October 2021 Government Gazette, from page 3798 onward.
