Paul De Ionno

Executive Director, Regulation and Compliance

Paul has oversight of regulatory frameworks that govern South Australia’s minerals and energy, hydrogen and renewable energy sectors, as well as the electrical, gas-fitting and plumbing trades. Paul is driving world leading regulatory practices in the department, which will deliver economic prosperity for South Australia while balancing social and environmental risks.

With a background in environmental science and management, Paul has been a regulatory professional and leader for over two decades, focusing on the resources and environmental sectors.

Paul joined the South Australian Government in 2006 after 10 years in the private sector and most recently held the position of Director Minerals Regulation. He is currently also serving as a National Council Member of the Australasian Environmental Law Enforcement and Regulators Network.
