The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has announced $50 million for two funding rounds targeting research and development for renewable hydrogen and low emissions iron and steel.
Expressions of interest are due 1 June 2023.
Hydrogen research and development (R&D) funding round
This $25 million funding round seeks to support the commercialisation of renewable hydrogen through innovative R&D in renewable hydrogen production, storage and distribution technologies.
Project applications should focus on one of the following streams:
- Hydrogen and hydrogen vector production – focused on improving and optimising the production of renewable hydrogen and hydrogen derivatives such as ammonia
- Hydrogen storage and distribution – focus on investigating storage and distribution solutions
